Lo Brothers & Associates, Inc. (LB) was established in 1980 by two brothers, Dominic and Raymond Lo. Older brother Dominic Lo graduated with a law degree at Soochow University in Taiwan. After graduation he went on to work for Getz Brothers International Trading, Kainan Plywood Manufacturing and Tumac Lumber Company in Taiwan and was a lumber export sales manager for many years. Through these experiences he was able to gain valuable knowledge of the wood industry and expertise with overseas trading. Dominic is sadly no longer with us today but his legacy lives on with the continued success of LB under the direction of his younger brother Raymond and the commitment of its loyal and able staff. Raymond Lo, President of Lo Brothers & Associates, Inc., received an architectural degree from Chung Yuan Christian College in Taiwan and a Master of Architecture from Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) in Atlanta, Georgia, where he has been working and residing since 1970. Recognizing a great opportunity to learn and to lead, Raymond left 12 years in the architecture profession and joined his brother Dominic in launching LB, which would become his career and passion for the next thirty years. Raymond has also served as AHEC (American Hardwood Export Council) Strategic Planning Director for China & Asian markets from 1996 to 2000. Boone Lo, Raymond’s son, joined LB in 2007. Boone earned a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from Georgia Tech and a Master of Architecture from Columbia University in New York City, where he lived and worked for 12 years. Following in his father’s footsteps, Boone also transitioned from a long career in architecture to becoming an integral part of LB. Boone will carry on the family business while bringing fresh ideas and building new relationships for LB as it enters a new generation. LB was originally involved in import-export trading of woodworking machinery, furniture and wood component products but later shifted its focus solely to exporting North American Forest Products, including: logs, lumber, veneer, flooring and components. LB currently exports hardwoods to countries worldwide. Its first market was in Taiwan, where it pioneered the exporting of the North American hardwood kiln-dried (KD) lumber to that region. In 1981 LB shipped its first container of lumber to Taiwan and distributed it to over 20 factories, free of charge, as an introduction to an American wood species and lumber grading system as well as to a new business relationship with Taiwan furniture manufacturers and exporters. LB has since expanded its markets to Europe, India, Japan, Korea, Southeast Asia and primarily to mainland China, where many of its Taiwanese customers have relocated their factories. LB has been based in Atlanta, Georgia for 30 years, and has branch offices abroad in Taiwan, China, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Denmark and Norway. LB has warehouses in China: Beijing, Dalian, Shenyang and Taichung, Taiwan. Also in Dalian and Shenyang are fully operational sawmills and kilns. This enables the combining of import, production and sales into one centrally controlled system. LB is dedicated to providing quality service and products with a “hands-on” approach to the lumber business. It was started by two brothers decades ago and remains today to be a small family-owned and operated business. LB prides itself beyond expectations on being fair, honest and accessible to its valued customers. Lo Brothers & Associates, Inc. is built on one basic principle: WE WORK HARDER WITH YOUR TRUST IN OUR SERVICE. |
